iDance and DStar, the recipe for success!

| Take one measure of amazing dance talent, add a spoonful of creative management, wait for a couple of weeks and then sprinkle with success, and I’m sure you’ll agree you’ve got a winning formula! Following last Friday’s (2/10/09) Urban Energy Competition, a show held to find DStar promotions next dance crew, iDance Impulse Leisure’s street Dance crew emerged triumphant holding a contact with DStar promotions, one of the UK’s hottest management companies, representing artists such a Maxwell D! The competition was extremely fierce with dance crews from all over Essex and London competing for one of the 3 prizes. iDance, featuring mid way through the first half, blew the judges away with the originality of their routine. After plunging the audience into darkness the iDancer’s slowly emerged from the crowd dressed in eerie white masks, one dancer even crawled across the judges table prompting the comment from a judge ‘Who just crawled across my table…you scared the life out of me!’, the dancers then crept on the stage, activated the hidden UV lights and wowed the audience with an array of glowing hands and masks, one audience member was overheard saying ‘the dance was incredible, I’ve never seen anything like it….it looked like their heads weren’t attached to their bodies’. Following the dance the judges were full of praise, giving undoubtedly the best comments of the evening with one judge deeming iDance her favourite. After the hype of the initial dance, iDance had definitely made their mark on the Urban Energy Competition, and with the addition of their second number, an up-tempo piece including flips, tricks and throws, the judges were extremely impressed. iDance choreographer Kelly Walsh, herself an ex-Professional dancer, commented on the crew’s performance “They all did me so proud, that’s the best I have seen them dance and they really put on a show, they have all worked so hard and I’m just so glad the judges recognised their efforts and work” she continued “ we have kids from all ages dance with iDance, and we consider ourselves more than just a dance crew, we’re more like a family!, its great that all the dancers are from the local borough, and lets hope we can carry on our success and put Thurrock on the map!” Following the announcement of the winners and iDance being announced first the excitement was uncontrollable, with all dancers (and choreographer!) elated at the news, the contract with DStar promotions will begin in the new year with some amazing projects lined up, so watch this space as I’m sure you’ll hear the name iDance again very soon! iDance is an eclectic fusion of Hip Hop, Street Jazz and Urban moves, and really is going from strength to strength, we encourage all levels of dancers to attend even if they have never danced before, iDance classes are held at both our Corringham and Blackshots clubs and are suitable for all ages from 3yrs up to adult classes.
