Impulse Leisure is opening its doors to over 60s in the Thurrock Community who can now swim for FREE at any Impulse Leisure club due to the launch of our brand new swimming initiative! This initiative is part of a long term goal to offer free swimming for senior residents and aims to encourage swimming, general fitness, more active lifestyles and in turn, improve health and well-being. This initiative launches on 1 April 2009, and is part of a Government-backed scheme in partnership with Thurrock Council.
Why Swimming?
Swimming tones your entire body whilst improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility all at the same time. A workout routine that includes swimming can be great fun too!
Ben Leeson, Marketing Manager, says “We look forward to welcoming the senior residents of the community into our centres to promote better health and to encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles. Swimming is fairly low-impact so it’s a perfect way to exercise gently, whilst helping your heart, lungs and general fitness and to help you lose weight. Another appeal of swimming is that it is a very sociable way to exercise – you can exercise and improve your fitness, while making friends at the same time!”
To benefit from the free swimming initiative, local residents can now apply for a swipe card which entitles access to all three clubs for free swimming during any general public swimming session from 1 April, 2009.
