Impulse Leisure Sponsorship Fuels National Swimming Success
Impulse Leisure is proud to announce its continued support for the athletes of Thurrock Swimming Club, celebrating remarkable achievements at the National Winter Championships 2024 in Sheffield and the Irish Short Course Championships.
Three athletes who train at Blackshots Leisure Centre, supported by Impulse Leisure, delivered standout performances:
- Joshua Shepherd, at just 16, won the U17 Junior 50m Fly Final with the third-fastest time ever recorded by a British 16-year-old. He also secured silver in the 50m Backstroke Junior Final and topped the Senior B Final in the 100m Fly with another personal best.
- Henry Dean achieved lifetime bests in both the 50m Fly and 100m Fly, narrowly missing senior finals.
- James McGettigan competed in the 100m Breaststroke, performing just outside his personal best.
The club also saw representation at the Irish Short Course Championships, where Ethan Martin smashed his personal best in the 100m Freestyle, qualifying for the finals with a time of 52.16.
Paul Robbins, Director and Head Coach of Thurrock SC, praised the partnership:
“Having access to the Blackshots gym has definitely helped Joshua and Henry. Thank you, Impulse, for all your support.”
Mark Couldridge, Impulse Leisure Centre Manager and Vice President of Thurrock SC, emphasised the broader impact of the sponsorship:
“This partnership is about more than just swimming—it’s about creating opportunities, fostering talent, and helping young athletes reach their full potential. We're thrilled to play a role in their success.”
Impulse Leisure’s commitment to supporting athletic development highlights the value of investing in strength training as part of a well-rounded fitness regimen, benefiting both elite athletes and the wider community.
